It involves helping build infrastructure like roads, bridges, buildings, dams, water systems, and railways to deliver public needs for a sustainable environment ensuring modern society functions safely and efficiently.

Civil and structural engineering is not just one job. Like many jobs, there are lots of different activities and responsibilities that make up the whole.

Civil and structural engineering involves a certain amount of office based work, or working from home, as well as time out and about visiting various sites where new constructions will be taking place.

Civil and structural engineering helps us find out how something should be built. This involves investigating old land records, examining rock structures and the ground, analysing water courses, figuring out how people using the new building will affect it, and deciding what materials should be used. There’s a lot to think about to make sure any new construction is safe and sustainable for people to use.
